2021 Wearable Sculptures

Anastasia Pindera’s recent wearable sculptures expand upon her series, Docile Bodies which examined the female body as a site of control, disordered eating and Western beauty ideals. The creation of this new untitled series was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. These obscure metal objects are designed around Pindera’s body and form it into different positions. The series conceptually explores self-discipline, objectification/self-objectification and conflictual desire. She will activate and further explain the objects through video and photography components at a later date.
